Petrel Uncertainty Analysis and Optimization Fundamentals

Subsurface uncertainties assessment is an essential phase in any field development strategy. This course learning contents are design to provide the reservoir engineers with the concepts and necessary application skills for uncertainty assessment quantification and optimizations using Petrel workflows tools. There are  several ways to analyze and quantify uncertainties in Petrel, whether those uncertainties are associated with a single modeling process, such as a hydrocarbon contact
depth in a 3D static model, or a combination of several interdependent processes ranging from seismic to simulation and economic forecasting.

This course discusses how to use Petrel Uncertainty and optimization tool to perform sensitivity analysis, uncertainty assessment, and optimization (history matching). It also covers the Proxy modeling concepts, benefits, limitations and its applications using the avaliable workflow tools in Petrel.

The course exercises are blended to incorporate learining of the software skills and its application using practical reservoir engineering technical challenges scenarios in the context of reservoir studies. The theory behind each software technology features are explained and practical exercises provided in each module to allow you to practice using these features described in the module.
