    Studio Manager - Petrel

Studio Manager comprises a suite of tools for effectively managing the Studio environment. It consolidates administrative and core data management workflows supporting Petrel software. Using Studio Manager, data managers quickly understand the state of their Studio environment by using cutting-edge applications (apps) to ascertain the status of repositories, review recent user activity, identify tasks that need to be performed, and perform the workflows surrounding those tasks.

In this course you learn to use Studio Manager as the single application to:

    • Manage data for Petrel users
    • Implement and manage  collaboration workflows across your teams
    • Apply data management common practices
    Day 1

    Day 1: Modules 1, 2, 3 & 4

    • Introduction to Studio and Studio Manager
    • Repositories, Users, Managed Projects, and Roles Administration
    • Coordinate reference system (CRS) administration
    • Index and data environment administration

The Studio E&P environment features a powerful set of tools that allow geoscientists and engineers to access, review, and use information in the context of their workflows. The data in Studio is stored in repositories and managed projects, and accessible to Petrel users connecting to Studio according to the access rights provided by their Roles. The administration of repositories, managed projects, users, and roles are tasks done by data managers using various apps in Studio Manager.

The first part of this session will enable participants to:
    • become familiar with Studio, the Studio Manager interface and the the configuration setup tasks when working with Studio Manager
    • explain the concepts of repositories, managed projects, users, and roles in Studio
    • administrate repositories, managed projects, users, and roles using the apps in Studio Manager

Studio repositories store Petrel data and Petrel supports loading, exporting, and transferring point-based data and bin-grids in a spatial context. Both Studio and Petrel work with CRS catalogs, and in a Studio environment, the administration of a CRS can be done using the Studio Manager.

Studio also enables to search and find all available information across multiple data sources. Using search tools, you can filter results based on specific criteria. The search tools work based on indexes and data environments, which are managed in the Studio Manager.

In the second part of this session, you will learn how to administer Coordinate reference systems (CRS), Indexes and data environments.

    Day 2

    Day 2: Modules 5, 6, 7 & 8

    • Quality attributes administration
    • Repository filters
    • Data transfers between Petrel and Studio
    • Data loading to Studio

Quality attributes help to ensure the integrity and quality of data in the repository. Data items can be tagged with quality attributes which can be used to provide information about the data item, lock the data item, or preserve the version of the data item in the repository. There are several types of user-applied quality attributes that can be configured using the Quality Tags app in Studio Manager and applied by Petrel users to any supported data type in Petrel.

Filters can be applied to narrow the scope of data presented through the interface. Repository filters can be used in different places, such as the Data Table app in Studio Manager and the Studio transfer tool in Petrel. There are different types of repository filters, which can be managed using the Filters app in Studio Manager.

In this session the participants will first learn how to administer quality attributes and manage repository filters. Then, for a better understanding of the interaction between Petrel and Studio, they will discover and use the data transfers tools, process and functionalities. They will also learn about loading different data types into Petrel before they can be transferred to Studio repositories.
