    Best Drilling Practices and Procedures for Rig Personnel - Part I

    The Course is focused on the description and group discussion of Best Practices and Procedures for

    conducting Drilling and Well Operations. It is specially oriented to improve technical competency of

    Supervisory Rig Personnel (Rig Managers, Tool Pushers, Drillers, Rig Safety Coordinators).


    The participants are encouraged to take active part in the analysis of rig operations and contribute to

    develop a complete list of Good Practices, Safety Procedures, Guidelines and Check Lists to be used for

    rig and well operations, based on their own field experience, lessons learned from previous experiences.


    The training material includes technical presentations of most relevant topics, Technical Manuals, Field

    Handbooks, and Recommended Practices issued by the Industry Regulatory Bodies and a good number

    of videos, classroom exercises and homework assignments at the end of each day.

    Day 5: Prevention of Well Control and Stuck Pipe Events

    • Causes, Prevention and Early Detection of Well Control Events
    • First Actions and Procedures in a Well Control Situation
    • Stuck Pipe Conditions and Consequences
    • Causes, Prevention and Early Detection of Stuck Pipe Conditions
    • First and Secondary Actions in a Well Control Event

    Drilling Superintendents, Rig Managers, Tool Pushers, Drillers, Assistant Drillers, Solids Control Equipment

    Operators, Rig Safety Coordinators, and any other field personnel that are related or will be involved with

    the rig operation and execution of well construction operations.
