    Discovering Geoscience Through Immersive Virtual Field Trip

    The objective of this 5-days course is to introduce professionals from disciplines other than the Geosciences to the key concepts and principles of Geology, Geophysics, and Petrophysics as applied to the Oil & Gas industry today. 

    The course focuses on the practical business applications of the specific discipline, incorporating case histories, relevant examples, and exercises. It also highlights the seamless integration among these three disciplines. This is a good introductory-level course to the Geoscience disciplines and will give a good working knowledge of the techniques and applications that are commonly applied. 

    The last day will be dedicated to virtual reality field trips. Attendees will have the opportunity to work on 3D outcrops, allowing them to understand the integration between different disciplines to characterize reservoirs. They will also be able to apply the techniques and concepts seen during the class and grasp scale effects, from logs to seismic data. The Virtual Field Trip will be carried out using Stratbox, a 3D visualisation and collaboration platform allowing annotation and interpretation withing a 3D image model. Stratbox is a proprietary software developed by Imaged Reality (https://www.imagedreality.com/ ).

    Day 5

    Virtual Reality fieldtrip on several 3D outcrops to work on different sedimentary environment and natural fractures development. Links with seismic and petrophysical data will be made wherever possible.

     

     


    Business professionals in the Oil & Gas Industry, who wish to understand the principles of the main Geoscience disciplines, and their applications in today’s E&P industry. The course is also appropriate for junior levels in non-geoscience disciplines.


    Attendees should have a Windows-based PC with at least 5GB free:
