    This two-day course is designed to introduce the student to the Seismic Wavelet Processor (SWP) application and introduce the basics of wavelet processing for a marine 3D survey. The course will show how to use the application to generate phase and amplitude spectra, apply a low-cut filter and shift and clip the wavelet. The basics of time series theory are covered and practical exercises show how to zero and minimum phase equivalents of the wavelet. Finally the student will learn how to QC the timing of the data.
    Day 1

    Seismic Wavelet Processing: Theory

    • Fundamentals of a time series
    • Introduction to wavelet processing
    • Polarity
    • Signature deconvolution

    At the end of this session the student will be able to explain the fundamental theoretical aspects of wavelet processing

    Day 2

    Seismic Wavelet Processing: Practical

    • Practical exercises using the Seismic Wavelet Processor (SWP) application:
    • Shaping a source signature to a desired target wavelet
    • Create zero and minimum phase equivalent filters
    • QC the timing of the data

    At the end of this session the student will be able to use the SWP to create phase and amplitude spectra, low cut filters, zero and minimum phase equivalent wavelets as well as shaped wavelets and timing QC.

    This course is intended for seismic data processors with some processing experience or advanced users who require a refresher in wavelet processing.

    • Shaping a source signature to a desired target wavelet
    • Create zero and minimum phase equivalent filters
    • QC the timing of the data

    An understanding of the concepts underlying seismic data processing and common data processing challenges. Participants without any prior knowledge of Omega must have taken the Fundamentals of Omega class before enrolling for this class.
