This is a Remote Instructor Led Series (RILS) training. The remote classroom delivery is a modality that takes advantage of the instructor led training content, while allowing the same content to be delivered remotely. All training sessions will be delivered online with no face-to-face classroom attendance.
The Petrel Fracture Modeling - RILS course covers the concepts of fracture modeling and their application in the oil industry in general and in the Petrel E&P software platform specifically.
The purpose of fracture modeling is to create simulation properties for matrix and fractures to predict reservoir behavior. Many reservoirs are dual-porosity/dual-permeability (naturally fractured), which leads to high flow zones that are not representative of the matrix flow capacity. Consequently, flow simulators have problems simulating these kind of reservoirs.
In this course, the participants will learn how to import, visualize, QC and analyze fracture data before building a fracture network model consisting of a Discrete fracture network (DFN) and Implicit fracture properties (IFM). There will also be a brief overview of how the output fracture properties can be used for simulation.
The Petrel Fracture Modeling - RILS course will be delivered over a total of sixteen (16) Hours; i.e. in four (4) sessions lasting 4 Hours each.
An optional 1.5 hour extra session can also be held with an instructor to cover the background theory on Fracture Modeling prior to the four (4) sessions dedicated to this actual course content. Alternatively, the background theory content could be pre-read by each participants prior to the course.
Each participant will need the following for an optimal experience of the course:
