Develop measurable skills and capabilities
Every project manager will eventually inherit a project, or recognize that their project is not just struggling, but is in serious trouble of not providing value to the customer, provider or both. These projects typically experience uncontrolled changes in scope, schedule and/or budget; but have also lost the confidence and/or interest of the executive management team and key stakeholders. Strict adherence to project management techniques and best practices are no longer sufficient by themselves in managing the project. The person who is asked to recover such a project, the recovery manager, needs a specialized set of skills and techniques to successfully get the project back on track.
The 5-step project recovery methodology and techniques presented in this course will give structure and guidance to the participants and will teach them how to rescue, turn around, and set a troubled project onto the right path for success. Participants will apply the techniques learned during a recovery workshop, where they will develop a high-level recovery plan presentation for executive management based on their class case study.
Introduction to Project Recovery Methodology
The first day of this course will cover a basic introduction to the Project Recovery Methodology. Specific topics that will be covered during this day will include realizing the problem, auditing the project, advanced EVA, and audit techniques.
Day 2Project Recovery Methodology
Day two will begin with a continued discussion on auditing a project, to include the topics of audit techniques and creating an audit report. The day will continue with the analyzing and re-planning of a project. Participants will learn about the root cause analysis, decision making, and adjusting the project management processes.
Day 3Project Recovery Methodology and Workshop

The day will continue with the mediate recovery plan preparation and negotiation. Attendees will participate in a recovery workshop at the end of day.
Day 4Project Recovery Methodology and Workshop Results
