Develop measurable skills and capabilities
This course will focus on teaching participants about various utilities systems including water, steam, air, nitrogen, fuel, and electric power. Other systems that will also be covered include flare and vent, drain, water treatment, storage, and loading systems. In each utility section, of the course, the relevant support systems, layout, design, reliability, key specification, and application will be discussed.
The participants will be exposed to technologies, technology, the basic design, influence of the variables on the process and specification for each utility unit.
Service Water and Cooling Water
On day one, participants will learn about service and cooling water. The day will begin with a brief introduction to utilities. After the introduction, the technology, design, and specification of each water will be covered.
Day 2Fresh, Potable, and De-Mineralized Water
Fresh, potable, and de-mineralized water will be covered on this day. Participants will learn about the technology, design, specifications, operation, maintenance, and safety of each.
Fire Water and Steam Systems
Day three will focus on fire water and steam systems. Fire water technology, design, specification, operation, maintenance, and safety will be covered. Steam systems such as boiler and furnace based systems will be discussed.
Air and Nitrogen Systems
Air systems and nitrogen systems will be covered on day two. Participants will learn about instrument air, plant air, and service air on this day. The technology, design, specifications, operation, maintenance, and safety of nitrogen systems will also be covered.
Fuel Systems
Day five will cover the different types of fuel systems. Participants will learn about both oil systems and gas systems.
Electric Power System
Two types of power systems will be covered on this day. Normal power systems including solar power, generator, and external source will be discussed. Participants will also learn about emergency power systems such as UPS and EDG.
Flare, Vent, and Drain Systems
Day seven will show participants about flare, vent, and drain systems. The technology for each will be covered. Participants will also learn about open drain systems.
Water Treatment System
On this day, water treatment systems will be the focus. Participants will learn about produced water treatment and sewage treatment, along with sea water treatment.
Storage and Loading Systems
Storage and loading systems will be covered on day nine. Participants will learn about chemical and product storage on this day. Truck and ship loading will also be discussed.
Field Trip
On the last day, participant will attend a field trip. After which final evaluations for participants and a course evaluation will be given.
Process engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, instrumentation and control engineers, and surface facilities project engineers.
